Makers Of Arvind Kejriwal Film Are Liars; I Did Not Throw Them Out: Pahlaj Nihalani
Livid Censor Chairman Pahlaj Nihalani shoots from the hip. He says that the makers of the Arvind Kejriwal documentary are lying through their teeth and aiming to publicise their film by running the Board down
This morning you
and I woke up to the news that the Censor Chief Pahlaj Nihalani allegedly took
the help of his security guards and threw the directors (Khushboo Ranka &
Vinay Shukla) of the Hindi-English documentary An InSignificant Man, out of his
office.
Nihalani spoke to
SpotboyE.com and said, "I did not throw those directors out. I did not
summon any security guard. Khushboo and Vinay are lying."
Then why did he not
tell this before the news broke out?
Sheila dixit
"I was never
asked if I threw them out of the office. The truth is that Khushboo and Vinay
never came to my office, so where's the question of throwing them out? And why
would I throw out anybody for that matter? I am a civilzed person, for God's
sake," Nihalani clarified.
And here is the
second shocker. Nihalani further lambasted Khushboo and Vinay, saying that he
had clearly told the team of An Insignificant Man at the Revising Committee
screening itself that they ought to submit the NOCs from the Prime MInister
Narendra Modi, AAP Leader Arvind Kejriwal and former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit.
Narendra Modi
Said Nihalani,
"Let me tell you that the Revising Committee screening was held at NFDC in
Worli, and not at our new office on Peddar Road. That also discounts the remote
possibility that they came to our office. Which office are they imagining
about?
Arvind Kejriwal
And here is the
third shocker. Justifying his demand of NOCs from Modi, Kejriwal and Sheila
Dikshit, saying that since the filmmakers have used the actual footage of Modi
and other leaders which cannot be shown without their permission, Nihalani
added, "Let me tell you one more thing. Khushboo and Vinay are shouting
about the fact that we asked them for NOCs, but do you know that they told us
at the Revising Committee that they already have the NOCs? And so far, they
have not dispatched those NOCs to us. Can you beat that?"
"All said and
done, Khushboo and Vinay are looking for publicity and they should not be
encouraged in that regard," Nihalani concluded.
The
documentary in question, produced by the Ship of Theseus director Anand Gandhi,
premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last year.
